Research questions and Objectives


Research question: 

• What are the positive effects of integrating music and technology on English learning in primary school students? 

Sub-questions: 

• How can activities with visual resources improve vocabulary learning in third-grade students? 

• To what extent does music facilitate the proper pronunciation and intonation of English in children aged 7 to 10 years? 

• How is it possible to adapt topics from the subject with songs in English that impact the group's written production?

Objectives

General objective

• Strengthen listening skills using music as a pedagogical strategy with students aged 7 to 10 from the Colegio Integrado del Carare of Cimitarra, Santander.

Specific objectives

• Use music as a tool to perfect the understanding of English sounds and phonemes, as well as internalize rhythmic patterns and natural intonations of the language.

• Enrich the vocabulary of the English language in 3rd and 4th-grade students through exposure to song lyrics that contain diverse terms and expressions.

• Design activities that integrate listening with other linguistic skills, such as speaking and writing within the Primary Education classroom.

It was observed that activities that integrated music and technology with visual resources had a significant impact on vocabulary learning in primary school students. The combination of visual and auditory stimuli facilitated vocabulary retention and comprehension compared to traditional teaching methods. The academic results indicate that music plays an important role in the development of English communicative skills in children. It was observed that students exposed to musical activities showed greater fluency and precision in their pronunciation, although not so much in the intonation of the language. The adaptation of subject topics and activities with songs in English had a positive effect on the groups' listening and written production. Students demonstrated improvement in written expression as well as in understanding grammatical structure and application of learned vocabulary in written contexts.

Planning phase:  This stage includes clearly defining the research problem, formulating research questions, reviewing the literature, and developing the research design Data collection phase: The duration depends on the method and the sample size, it may involve interviews, surveys, observations and document analysis Data Analysis phase: This stage has to do with the statistical or qualitative analysis and the amount of data collected to answer the research questions or test the hypotheses.  Interpretation of results phase : At this stage, the implications of the findings are examined and their relevance in the context of the literature and the study's objective is discussed. Report preparation phase:  The duration depends on the complexity of the report and the clarity of the results. Finally, the project is presented and disseminated through publications.
